The Children’s Toy project was created to partner with a toy company brand and design from their company aethstetic in a certain age range.
The company chosen was Bella Luna Toys located in Rockland, Maine. Bella Luna wooden toys are made from sustainably sourced pine from forests located in Maine. Their toys are primarily made for ages 1-3 but the toys I designed are for children ages 3-5.

Ideation
The original concept for the toy was for there to be two main components, a vehicle and a pull behind portion to make a set.
3D Modeling
The vehicle selected was an RV and the pull behind portion was chosen to be a pontoon boat with a trailer. From this point on, modeling from low density foam began to ensure proportion between the RV and boat as well as the same level of detail.
After tweaking details and proportions, more foam models of the RV were made before moving into wood for the final toy. The proportions of the boat were close enough to start working in wood to see how construction would be laid out.
CAD Drawings
Once dimensions were established, the models were drawn in Solidworks and drawings were created.
Final Model
The final model was constructed from pine to follow the company aesthetic and was finished with more detail and smaller radii to cater to a higher age range (3-5) than most of the Bella Luna Toys (1-3).
